The Pilchuck Foundation provides a $500.00 non-renewable scholarship for a deserving graduating senior of the Granite Falls School District. These scholarships are presented under the auspices of the Merlin C. “Barney” Barnhart Scholarship Program.
The annual scholarship(s) is awarded in memory and honor of Merlin C. “Barney” Barnhart whose service to his country and community was hallmarked by his combat bravery in World War 2, Korea, and Viet Nam and later as a reserve police officer with the City of Granite Falls, Washington.
The Barney Barnhart scholarship is awarded to graduating students who plan to pursue a career in public safety.
Interested students should check with the school counseling office for guidelines and application form. Students can also request a form from either Fire Chief Jim Haverfield or the Chief of Police.
